Marc Márquez won’t be able to kill the championship like, for example, in 2014’ – Livio Suppo

Marc Márquez will join Ducati in MotoGP in 2025, theoretically riding one of the most competitive bikes on the grid, if not the most competitive. His performances this year with Gresini, even on the 2023 machine, were promising.

However, can the Spaniard dominate the championship as he once did with Honda? This was the question posed by GPOne.com to Livio Suppo, currently a member of the Italtrans Racing Team. Suppo dismissed such a possibility:

No, I don’t believe he will be able to kill the championship like he did in 2014, when he won the first ten races. He will definitely be one of the protagonists, as he already was this year, where he made a big difference compared to other GP23 riders. But from there to dominating the championship, it won’t be easy with competitors like Pecco [Bagnaia], who, despite not winning the title, still won 11 Grands Prix.

The Italian anticipates a shift in balance but also foresees potential dominance by Ducati’s factory team: ‘It will be great for the fans because I think Ducati reducing from eight to six bikes and losing two strong riders like [Jorge] Martín and [Enea] Bastianini will mix things up a bit. This could give other teams a shot at the podium. What is certain is that, in theory, the first and second positions seem already decided. The official Ducati team could very well dominate the season next year’.
