In order to move south and join the Atlanta Falcons, Kirk Cousins received a huge four-year, $180 million contract this offseason after serving as quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings for six years, from 2018 to 2023. The 36-year-old had to make the difficult choice to leave behind his preferred wide receiver, Justin Jefferson, even though money talks. Following the Vikings’ 42–21 victory over the Falcons on Sunday afternoon, the two reconnected.

“Kirky yo!” NFL Films captured Jefferson’s outburst. “Good job my boy!” When Cousins said, “Good job man, you’re doing awesome,” “Thank you for what you meant to me, man.”

Jefferson continued by expressing gratitude and sending “much love” to his old signal caller. Cousins helped Jefferson rapidly establish himself as one of the league’s best pass catchers over the course of four seasons. In 2022, the teenage wide receiver’s 128-catch, 1,809-yard, and eight-touchdown campaign earned him the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year honour. In Sunday’s victory over Cousins in town, Jefferson, who is now receiving throws from Sam Darnold, grabbed in seven receptions for 132 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Vikings move up to 11-2 on the 2024 season.
