The Georgia Bulldogs could be losing sophomore defensive back Julian Humphrey next year.
Humphrey took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon to announce that he would be entering the transfer portal.
“First and foremost I would like to thank the man above for everything he has done for me, and I will forever be grateful for everything! I also wanted to say thank you to all of the loyal UGA fans along the way. Thank you,” Humphrey wrote in the post. “With that being said, after careful consideration, I will be entering my name in the portal with 2 years left of eligibility.”
Humphrey’s decision ultimately comes after losing his starting cornerback job to sophomore Daniel Harris.
He finished the 2024 season credited with 10 total tackles (nine solo) and four pass breakups through 10 starts.
The NCAA transfer portal window does not open until Monday, Dec. 9, and will close on Saturday, Dec. 28. Humphrey can still choose to change his mind and stay at Georgia before that window closes.
In the meantime, Humprey is not expected to suit up for the Bulldogs’ SEC Championship game against Texas next Saturday or the rest of Georgia’s playoff run.
