Although early indications point to Aidan O’Connell not missing much time for the Las Vegas Raiders, they still promoted Carter Bradley from the practice squad to the active roster. The organisation chose to recruit a new quarterback because it is still uncertain exactly what O’Connell’s status will be for the remainder of the season. Jake Luton has joined the Raiders’ practice squad, the team announced. Luton joined the NFL in 2020 after being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round. He has been moving around the league a lot ever since. He will be playing for the Raiders for the sixth time. Luton played for numerous teams, although he only participated in the regular season in 2020, he had to start three games for the Jaguars when Gardner Minshew was injured. During those starts, he threw two touchdowns and six interceptions.

At six feet six, Luton is large for a quarterback but lacks athleticism. There may not be much room for improvement because he is already 28 years old, but at least he will give the Raiders some depth in case they have further quarterback injuries before the season ends.
